                                   A report on Mass plantation programme 21.07.2018
JNV Almatti launched a land mark event –Mass plantation programme on 21.07.2018, a journey embarked to fulfill a sensible responsibility to protect and preserve the environment and to make our earth green and clean. A tailor made planning was designed to carry out this mega event. The land was identified bushes were cleared, pits were dug, target was fixed, measures for the protection of saplings were chalked out.
          The programme began with the invocation by Vidyalaya choir.  Shri.P.K.Nair DFO KBJNL Almatti was the chief guest . Shri. Nagathan, Tahasildar Nidgundi and Shri. Shrikant Pol , RFO Muddebihal were the guest of hounor. After lighting the lamp, Smt. C.Ammal Principal in her introductory speech threw light on the importance of the day. She added that they feel proud to become a part of this great mission. A video clipping was screened focusing on the environment issues like global warming ,glaciers melting ,depletion of ozone layer.
          Smt.Anjali A.S. PGT Bio. administered the pledge assuring today’s theme – Each one plant one nurture one . The chief guest shri P.K. Naik in his address reiterated the value of trees and gave the statistics of the forest area and the rate of average annual deforestation and reforestation in India. He hoped that children should exhibit passion in doing their bit for the earth and giving their best to the green cause.
          240 fruit bearing, 208shade providing plants were planted in the campus to make it green campus. Every member of JNV Almatti family, staff, students, members of forest department ,Alumani planted saplings and felt the sense of belongingness  and responsibility of taking care of these plants. Students labeled each plant with its scientific name with the beautiful identification tag and the name of the staff /students who planted it. The whole school was illuminated with eye catching slogans- live green love green think green.
          The programme culminated with the commitment “plant trees save earth” and engraved indelible marks in the future citizens to help in environment conservation. The programme was successful in fulfilling its objective of inculcating values of belongingness, care and concern to mother earth among the students and enabling them to respond and rise to the occasion to heal up the devastated and damaged environment and prepare them to become the responsible occupants of this planet.
